Trial by humour
The UK seems to have become Aditi Mittal's second home. After her popular show, A Beginner's Guide to India, which aired on BBC's Radio 4 last year, she made her debut at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival last month. And now the stand-up comedian is all set to perform at the prestigious Soho Theatre in London for 14 consecutive nights in October. But not before she does a Mumbai trial run of the gags she plans to crack there.

"Trial shows make me more willing to be open and vulnerable," says the funny woman. "The London performance is called Global Village Idiot, and the jokes will be about whether the world is really flat. We all seem to be suspended in a limbo, where we belong everywhere and nowhere at the same time."

Hear it from the women
Tonight, four women, who have taken on roles in the nightlife industry, go live on Facebook to discuss how to bring more women professionals in this field. The discussion features Vidhi Gupta, who has a decade's experience in managing and promoting shows across India and the UK; Shobita Kadan, director of marketing and strategy for a hospitality and entertainment firm; Anu Anna George, artist manager with an agency that represents acts such as Indus Creed and Monica Dogra; and mixologist Shatbhi Basu, who heads India's first institute for professional bartending in Mumbai.

"While women are joining the nightlife industry, the gender ratio can be improved," says George.
