Fireflies are mostly seen before the arrival of monsoon. A clear sky, high altitude, and zero pollution level, are major factors that contribute to an unforgettable fireflies watching experience. Trek to the two beautiful getaways near Mumbai, Prabalgad and Rajmachi and be a part of the firefly festival. 



Fireflies trek to Rajmachi fort details:

Mumbai, which is surrounded by Shayadri Mountains and Western Ghats, is the doorway to several unexplored, serene, and scenic treks. One such trek is Rajmachi Fort trek. The trekking route is located around 17km away from the hill town of Lonavala. There are two trekking routes to Rajmachi. While the tough trekking route starts from Kondivide village near Karjat, the easier one starts from Lonavala.

Fireflies special trek to Prabalgad Machi

Prabalgad is nestled between Matheran and Panvel on the Mumbai-Pune highway. Prabalgad was known as Muranjan, until it was taken over and renamed by the Marathas during Shivaji’s rule. Prabalgad Fort is the biggest attraction here and forms a prominent part of trekking destinations near Mumbai. Presently, the biggest attraction at Prabalgad fort is twinkling fireflies. Prabalgad Fort commands breathtaking vistas of the adjoining mountains and valleys. With dawn, the calmness and serenity of the place gets heightened and turn leads to a solace encapsulated environment. This is one of the best times to trek to Prabalgad, because it is dotted with fireflies. The night sky of Prabalgad not only twinkle under the moonlight sky, but also under the light of tiny fireflies.
