Former French striker Thierry Henry has landed his first major coaching role after being appointed as an assistant manager of the Belgium national team.

The former Arsenal striker's new role will see him assist Roberto Martinez.

The Belgium national team, also known as the Red Devils, will begin their campaign to qualify for the FIFA World Cup soon.

Henry has been on the look out for a coaching job since the time Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger rejected him since he wasn't happy with the idea of Henry combining his responsibilities as a Sky expert with a role with the Under-18 side.

Henry will now have the chance to combine his new role with his work as a Sky TV pundit, just like Gary Neville did with England.

Henry’s first game as assistant to former Everton manager Martinez will be Belgium’s friendly tie with Spain on September 1. Five days after the Spain friendly, Belgium start their 2018 World Cup qualifying campaign against Cyprus.
