Two rival channels are set to run shows on divine intervention -- 'Man Mein Visshwas Hai' on Sony TV and 'Bhakton Ki Bhakti Mein Shakti' on Life OK -- But whose idea was it originally?

Two similar shows on rival channels. Whose idea was it originally?

It isn’t unusual for rival television channels to run shows on similar concepts at the same time. And recently, the trailers of 'Man Mein Visshwas Hai' on Sony TV and 'Bhakton Ki Bhakti Mein Shakti' on Life Ok hit the tube almost simultaneously and we couldn’t help but notice an uncanny similarity between them — they are both based on the power of faith in God and tryst with miracles. Now we are wondering who copied the concept from whom.

Sources tell us Sony TV had come up with the idea in 2006-07, but Life Ok began running the promos of their show first. Gaurav Seth, producer of 'Man Mein Visshwas Hai', says “I don’t know why the channel decided to revisit their concept. They commissioned me to produce the show and I am doing that, I had no idea that Life Ok is doing something similar. Sony roped me in for the project last December. Sony already had a show like this and they are just bringing it back, so it goes without saying who had the original idea. The shoot is on and it will be a daily show.

Moreover, there is enough room in this industry to tell your story with conviction, so it doesn’t matter how many shows run with a similar concept.”

Interestingly, Life Ok’s 'Savdhaan India' is modelled after Sony TV’s 'Crime Patrol'.

The spokesperson for Life Ok, says, “Given our popularity and competitive position, the constant threat is of competition, copying our unique and differentiated ideas to gain traction instead of the other way round.”
