I am hardly surprised by Kuldeep Yadav's feat. I have always believed in his ability to be successful at the international level in any format. He had already proved his worth in Test matches and T20s. Now, he has shown his worth in ODIs too. I hope he is able to cement his place in Team India."

Kuldeep's coach Kapil Pandey was over the moon yesterday after his ward bagged a match-winning hat-trick against Australia in the second ODI at Eden Gardens, Kolkata.
"He has a lot of variety and can bowl a fantastic wrong 'un [the chinaman's googly] too. Therefore, he is a key bowler for India on a slow surface. I am sure his stature will grow as he makes the most of his opportunities," said Pandey.
The young spinner had his share of self doubts and his coach's advice came in handy. Pandey recalled: "When he was waiting in the wings, I told him to be patient and stressed that his time will come. I am glad he kept himself strong and has thrived on his opportunities."
Former selector and Test off-spinner Gopal Sharma was equally delighted. "It's a matter of great pride for us. I believe Kuldeep has done justice to his selection. I always knew he is a rare talent — I have not seen a left-arm wrist spinner of his ability.
"His hallmarks are his accuracy and variety. I am sure he will go a long way now, especially after his Eden feat," Gopal said.
