The police said the boy had been sitting on the wall of the nullah with his friends at Ambedkar Udyan, near Powai Lake, when he slipped and fell into the nullah. Fortunately, he found a low branch of a tree and was clinging on for dear life. While neither the fire brigade, nor the BMC’s disaster management cell had any idea about it, onlookers filmed the rescue drama.
An officer from the Powai police said, "We got a call from the locals, but by the time we reached the spot, the boy and his rescuers had left."
