The only clue that the Jogeshwari police have been able to gather in the past three days, in the hit-and-run case on the Western Express Highway, is that a white tempo had crashed into the victim's bike, killing him on the spot. They are yet to locate the vehicle and the driver involved in the case.

Speaking to mid-day, deceased Sahil Mishra's uncle Surjit Mishra said, "On the day of the incident, Sahil had told his parents that he was going to meet his grandmother, who lives at Veera Desai Road, and that he would return soon. When he did not return till afternoon, his mother tried to contact him on his cell phone, but the calls went unanswered. Some time later, a man called back on his mother's number and informed her that he had met with an accident. By the time we rushed to the spot, he had been shifted to the nearest hospital, where he was declared dead."

He further said, "The locals who had gathered at the spot told us that it was a white tempo that hit Sahil's bike and sped away. I cannot understand why nobody noted down the vehicle's number. We hope his family gets justice, as he did not deserve to die at such a young age."

"It's really sad that such a cheerful boy is no more. We still feel that he would come back some day. We have no idea what the cops are doing in the matter, as we still don't know who killed Sahil," he added.

The Oshiwara police recorded the statements of the locals, and launched a search operation for the white tempo and its driver. They are also in the process of scanning the CCTV footage in the vicinity.

When contacted, Subhash Khanvilkar, senior police inspector of Oshiwara police station, said, "A witness had told us that a white tempo crashed into the bike. We are investigating the case and going through the CCTV footages to get clues."

The incident
Sahil Mishra was riding a bike on the day of the incident. Around 3pm, while he was on his way back home, a vehicle crashed into his bike near the Balasaheb Thackeray flyover. The moment he fell off his bike, the driver sped away without informing the police or helping him get some medical aid. Sahil had suffered serious head injuries and was declared dead after being rushed to the hospital.
