It's that time of the year again. Woodside Inn is back with its legendary Beer and Burger Festival, which is celebrating its 10th edition this year. As far as anniversaries go, this is a huge milestone in a city where most culinary concepts cease to be exciting within the span of a year.



Since the launch of the festival, Woodside Inn has constantly been experimenting with the burger and beer menu. This year, 10 burgers will be on offer, with eight crowd favourites from previous editions making a comeback, and two new additions. "We have the Super Sunday Roast Burger and the Confit Duck Leg Burger, among others, which have been tweaked and elevated. Meanwhile, the Tempura Fried Soft Shell Crab Burger, and the Parmesan-crusted Portobello Mushroom Burger are new inclusions," says owner Pankil Shah.

The beer menu, meanwhile, will consist of international beers and locally brewed craft beers, which you can pair with your favourite burger. Additionally, Woodside Inn has collaborated with Gateway Brewing Company to offer two beers, titled Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, after the fictional characters of Robert Louis Stevenson's popular 19th-century novel. "Both are very different from each other. While one is more light and refreshing, the other is dark and flavourful," says Shah.

He adds that it has been an eventful run, with the team constantly having to think outside the box and come up with fun ideas for the annual event. "We've changed things over the years. There was a time when we crowdsourced the recipes for the burgers, and in another year, we did a collaboration with The Bohri Kitchen. We've also had oddball versions like ramen burgers and pancake burgers. We even introduced a vegan pulled jackfruit burger," he says.

With all this to look forward to, get ready to put on a few kilos as you tuck into a freshly-flipped burger and sip on a chilled beer.
