Parkinson’s disease is one of the most common nervous system disorders, the cause of which is still unknown. On World Parkinson’s Day, let us remember those famous faces from round the world who suffered from the degenerative disorder of the central nervous system.


Muhammad Ali: The boxing champion was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease in 1984. He started showing signs of Parkison’s slowly after retiring from boxing. Ali, along with philanthropist Jimmy Walker, and Abraham Lieberman, established Muhammad Ali Parkinson Center for movement disorders.

Linda Ronstadt: The 68-year-old singer revealed about her Parkinson’s disease only last year. Though she faces difficulty in coping with her day to day life because of the degenerative disorder, yet she is still doing everything to combat its effects.

Bob Hoskins: The British actor was forced to retire in 2012 after being diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. Unfortunately, Hoskins passed away in 2014 due to pneumonia.

Brian Grant: After spending a long tenure in National Basketball Association professional, the basketball player was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2008 at the age of 36. He later on founded the Brian Grant Foundation to raise awareness on Parkinson’s disease.

Michael Richard Clifford: Even after being diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, the astronaut continued to fly in space. He received the Public Leadership in Neurology Award for increasing awareness about the disease and encouraging them to live happily.
