WWE Raw's first show of 2017 marked the return of WWE superstar Goldberg who appeared on the 'Kevin Owens Show' segment. Goldberg was seen on WWE Raw last year after his huge victory over rival Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series.

WWE United States champion Roman Reigns fought Chris Jericho with Kevin Owens banned from ringside after he lost his match against Seth Rollins earlier on Raw. Jeircho tried to pull off an Eddie Guerrero trick by throwing the belt on Reigns and falling down in a bit to get the former disqualified. However, Reigns fought off to be victorious.

Goldberg, appeared on Kevin Owens show and taunted Kevin Owens. Paul Heyman then turned up and Goldberg had a message for his client Brock Lesnar. Roman Reigns also showed up and had a staredown with Goldberg before the two hit Braun Strowman with double spears. Royal Rumble 2017 will see Goldberg and Brock Lesnar in the same ring after their battle at Survivor Series.

Bayley defeated Nia Jaxx to become the number one contender to face WWE Raw women's champion Charlotte at Royal Rumble 2017. Sasha Banks showed up and proved a distraction for Nia after which Bayley pinned her for the win.

Brian Kendrick lost to TJ Perkins after tapping out to the knee bar. Big Cass faced off against Rusev and Jinder Mahal in a handicap match but lost.

Sami Zayn took on the huge Braun Strowman in a Last Man Standing match set by Raw General manager Mick Foley. After much resistance Sami Zayn lost to the dominant Strowman and had to be taken out on a stretcher. Cesaro lost to Anderson in their match up despite Sheamus trying to help his tag team partner.
