Speaking about a viral video showing a group of Sadhus being purportedly thrashed by a mob in the Purulia district in West Bengal, Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Anurag Thakur on January 13 criticised the West Bengal government against appeasement politics and Law and Order issue in the state.While talking to the media, Union Minister Anurag Thakur said, "Appeasement politics has created such an environment. Law and order have collapsed in West Bengal...the question is why is there such anti-Hindu thinking?"

54th IFFI Event: The 54th edition of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) kicked off on November 20 at the Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Indoor Stadium in Taleigao-Goa which is scheduled to go on till the 28th of November. Soon after the Kerala blasts incident, the blame game began as the BJP held the Kerala Government responsible. Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar held CM Vijayan responsible for the deadly incident. Kerala CM strongly reacted to Chandrasekhar’s remarks and said, “Those who are spitting poison will keep spitting poison”. On the other hand, Union Minister Anurag Thakur condemned Kerala's multiple blasts. He said that the State’s MP Rahul Gandhi’s complete silence on this shows that Congress is silently supporting them. Adding further, he said Congress and the Communist Party are silently supporting them and are not taking action. Multiple explosions hit the Jehovah’s Witness prayers meeting in Kochi on October 29. Three persons lost their lives in the tragic incident and around 36 were severely injured.

India's information and broadcasting and Sports Minister Anurag Thakur informed about the legendary cricketer's death and condoled his death at the Dharamsala Stadium. The Sports Minister elaborated on Bedi's contribution to the Dharamsala stadium and how closely he was associated to it. Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Anurag Thakur inspected the preparations at the International Media Centre on September 05 at the ITPO complex ahead of the G20 Summit in New Delhi which is scheduled to take place on September 09 and 10.
