Each year, cultural performances form a part of the Republic Day parade at the Kartavya path in Delhi. This year too, on the occasion of Republic Day 2024, the Republic Day parade 2024 saw a group consisting of 1500 dancers giving the message of unity in diversity. The grand performance included 30 folk dance styles uniquely prevalent in different states of the country. 120 dancers also donned masks related to various tribal and folk performing arts and 120 dancers performed dances with traditional umbrellas and other artistic objects from Gujarat, Manipur, Kerala and Maharashtra. Earlier in the ceremony, President Droupadi Murmu unfurled the National Flag at Kartavya Path.

On July 27th, while giving a speech on the Cinematograph (Amendment) Bill, 2023, Rajya Sabha MP Anurag Thakur sang iconic songs ‘Jimmy Jimmy’ and ‘Disco Dancer’. Cinematograph (Amendment) Bill, 2023 aims to curb the menace of film piracy as well as revamp age-based certification given by the Central Board. Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Anurag Thakur moved the Cinematograph (Amendment) Bill, 2023 in the Upper House in the second half of the day for its consideration and passage. The bill has been cleared.
