Sanjay Singh was released from Delhi’s Tihar Jail on bail on April 3. The ED on April 2, informed the SC that the agency has no objection to Sanjay Singh getting bail. A bench led by Justice Sanjiv Khanna directed the release of Sanjay Singh . Bail was granted during pendency of trial in a money laundering case relating to excise policy irregularities. Aam Admi Party supremo Arvind Kejriwal has become the first sitting Chief Minister to be lodged in Tihar Jail. The Rouse Avenue Court sent AAP supremo to judicial custody till April 15 in the Delhi excise policy case. As per ED, Kejriwal was shown evidence of more than 10 meetings of Vijay Nair with other co-accused persons involved in liquor business. During hearing, ED told Court that Kejriwal had admitted Vijay Nair of reporting only to party leaders Atishi, Saurabh Bharadwaj. Over 600 lawyers have written a letter to CJI DY Chandrachud expressing concerns against a “vested interest group”. Lawyers expressed serious concerns against the actions of a specific interest group aiming to undermine the judiciary's integrity. Reacting to lawyers’ concerns, PM Modi on March 28 took a dig at INC saying that “bullying others is vintage Congress culture”. Notably, the letter has been signed by top lawyers including senior advocate Harish Salve, SC Bar Association Prez Adish Aggarwala. As per lawyers, the group is putting pressure tactics to influence judicial outcomes, particularly in cases involving political figures.
