Jhelum Boat Accident: 6 dead bodies found, 3 people still missing

Rescue and search is operation underway in Ganderbal Nowgam area of ​​Srinagar. 3 people are still missing in the boat capsizing incident that occurred in the Jhelum River yesterday. According to DC Srinagar, Six bodies have been found so far. Officials said that the rescue operation continued till 11 pm last night but was halted due to darkness and heavy water flow in the river Jhelum. On 16th of April, in a tragic accident a boat carrying school children overturned in the Jhelum river in the Ganderbal district of Jammu and Kashmir. The Srinagar Administration had launched a rescue operation in the area. A State Disaster Response Force team was also deployed. At least six persons including four children were found  dead. 4 bodies were recovered, while others were missing.  Continuous rains over last two days led to an increase in the water levels of several water bodies, including Jhelum.

Pakistan Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto’s PoK visit ahead of the G20 Meet in Srinagar has raised eyebrows. Pakistan is appalled by the upcoming G20 meeting in Srinagar and stepped up its efforts to derail it. Pakistan targeted India and has claimed that the G20 meeting in the disputed region is a violation of international laws. Bilawal Bhutto said that it is not possible for India to play an important role in the world by violating UN resolutions. Defence expert PK Sehgal condemned Bhutto’s visit and said that Pak FM should use his energy to save ‘Crisis-Hit-Pakistan’, not in G20 Srinagar meet. Moreover, Bhutto openly threatened India, and said, “We will respond to this on time and they will remember it”. J&K: India slams UN SR’s objection to G20 summit in Srinagar

India blasted the UN Special Rapporteur on Minority issue for his statement on the G20 meeting in Kashmir. UN SR on Minority Issues Fernand de Varennes criticised India’s decision to hold a G20 meeting in Kashmir. Fernand claimed that India is holding a G20 meeting in the Union Territory to “normalise its suppression of minorities”.
