The IT employees in India’s Silicon City, Bengaluru on March 13, expressed dismay amid the Bengaluru water crisis in the Karnataka state. The depletion of groundwater and drying up of more than 3,000 borewells in the capital city has made it difficult for people here. The IT employees are now choosing Work from Home (WFH) due to water scarcity in Bengaluru. “If we get work from home it will be good as the water will be saved...it will save our time and water,” said Amogh, an IT employee. “More amount of water is spent if the employees go to the offices. It’s better to get work from home… Never thought that we would get WFH because of water scarcity,” said Varsha, an IT employee.

In the photos shared by the PM on his ‘X’ handle, he can be seen in scuba gear and descending into the azure waters to offer prayers at the site steeped in historical and spiritual significance. Earlier in the day, PM Narendra Modi in Dwarka offered prayers at Beyt Dwarka Temple. After offering prayers at the temple, Prime Minister inaugurated the Sudarshan Setu in Dwarka. It is the longest cable-stayed bridge of the country that has been constructed at the cost of ₹ 979 crore.

Cauvery Water Dispute: Karnataka, Tamil Nadu farmers stage protests

Karnataka Rakshana Vedike members staged a protest over the Cauvery water issue in Karnataka’s Ramanagara on September 26. They performed pooja during the protest. Heavy security was deployed in Bengaluru’s Whitefield in the wake of a Bandh called in the city by various organisations regarding the Cauvery water issue. The Bandh has been called by farmer bodies, Kannada organisations and opposition parties to protest against the release of water from the Cauvery river in Karnataka to neighbouring Tamil Nadu. Bengaluru Central DCP Shekar T Tekkannavar said that the traffic is normal in the city and the police have made ‘adequate bandobast’. Meanwhile, farmers in Thanjavur engaged in a protest  against Karnataka and the central government demanding Cauvery water release from Karnataka to Tamil Nadu. Farmers held a 'Rail Roko' protest to mark their protest over the ongoing dispute with Karnataka. A group of Tamil Nadu farmers were seen holding dead rats in their mouths protest against the Karnataka government.

Noida witnesses heavy rains; hundreds of cars submerged

Parts of Delhi-NCR woke up to heavy rain on July 26, bringing respite from hot and humid conditions. Due to the downpour, parts of Delhi-NCR experienced waterlogging. Meanwhile, several areas of Noida witnessed severe waterlogging. Hundreds of vehicles were stranded in Noida’s Echotech area due to a rise in the water level of the Hindon River on July 25. The vehicles were seen almost submerged in the water making it ‘Water Parking’. Several houses were also submerged in the low-lying areas on July 23. Light to moderate rains were witnessed in parts of the NCR, including Noida, in the early hours of July 25. Amidst heavy rainfall in parts of the country, the IMD has issued alerts for Maharashtra, Haryana, Chandigarh, UP, Rajasthan, HP, and Uttarakhand.

The water level of Yamuna has been on a rise since July 22. The flood-affected people were shifted to relief camps as they lost their shelters. Hundreds of flood-affected people were seen taking shelter in the relief camps near Old Yamuna Bridge.
