Leander Paes and Scott Lipksy faced stiff resistance from Steve Darcis and Gilles Muller before sealing a quarter-final berth at the ATP 250 Ricoh Open here yesterday.

The unseeded Indo-American pair edged past the Belgium-Luxembourg combo 7-5, 6-4 in the opening round of the grass court tournament.
Darcis and Muller squandered many a chances in the one hour and 11 minutes match while Paes and Lipksy were rewarded for not missing theirs.
After 34 minutes of intense tennis, Paes and Lipksy struggled but managed to close the opening set in their favour.
In the second set Darcis and Muller put pressure on their opponents but Paes and Lipksy escaped unscathed to win the match.
