Former India midfielder Aqeel Ansari was glad to see kids battle it out in the muck and display their skills on a flooded football field at the Azad Maidan on Thursday. Ansari was present to watch his son Athar, skipper of St Mary’s SSC School [Mazgaon] play against St Stanislaus [Bandra] during the Mumbai Schools Sports Association U-16 Division I match. "The kids should learn to play in tough conditions like this. It helps to build their strength and stamina," Ansari told mid-day.

Ansari also reckons that there is no dearth of talent in the country, but coaches and scouts should pick players when they are young. "This way, we can increase our player pool and have more players to represent the country," he said.
